A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for National Health Services <\/a>Syed Mustafa Kamal<\/strong> with the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA)<\/strong> at the Ministry of National Health Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was attended by the Secretary Health, Special Secretary Health, the Chief Executive Officer of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP)<\/strong>, and other senior officials of the Ministry, alongside representatives of the pharmaceutical industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key issues related to drug quality, transparency, and availability<\/strong> were discussed in detail. Deliberations covered the implementation of bioequivalence<\/strong>, compliance with PIC\/S requirements<\/strong>, the 2-D barcode under the Track & Trace system<\/strong>, delays in product registration<\/strong>, new molecules<\/strong>, API-related challenges<\/strong>, and deregulation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to improving quality, availability, and affordability of medicines<\/strong> through closer coordination, mutual consultation, and phased regulatory reforms<\/strong> in collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the participants were representatives of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association<\/a> (PPMA)<\/strong>, including Dr. Tahir Azam<\/strong>, Chairman PPMA, Usman Shaukat<\/strong>, Chairman North PPMA, as well as the President of the<\/strong> Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion also highlighted the supportive role of international health partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO)<\/strong>,<\/a> UNICEF<\/a><\/strong>, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance<\/a><\/strong>, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation<\/strong>, and the Government of Pakistan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
