The Government of Pakistan has officially launched a major initiative under the Prime Minister Electric Vehicle Scheme to distribute 76,000 electric motorcycles across the country during the current fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move is aimed at promoting affordable and environmentally friendly transport, particularly for students, daily-wage earners, and low-income commuters who rely heavily on motorcycles for mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the scheme, eligible citizens will receive a subsidy of Rs. 80,000 per electric motorcycle. This financial support is expected to significantly reduce the upfront cost, making electric bikes more accessible to the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Hammad Mansoor, CEO of the Engineering Development Board<\/strong>, the federal government has allocated Rs. 100 billion for the next five years to support electric vehicle adoption. For the current fiscal year alone, Rs. 9 billion has been earmarked for implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He further stated that approximately 116,000 electric motorcycles will receive subsidies this year, while 76,000 units are scheduled for delivery by June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
