We pay tribute to Prof Dr Aftab Ahmad Anjum, an exceptional scholar, teacher, and mentor whose life was dedicated to the service of science, education, and humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Anjum began his academic journey at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1994, MPhil in Microbiology in 1996, and Ph.D. in Microbiology in 2004. His doctoral research on the control of Infectious Bursal Disease through subunit vaccines laid the foundation for his significant scientific contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His professional career reflected an unwavering commitment to excellence. Starting as a Veterinary Officer, he served the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore with distinction for nearly two decades. Rising through the ranks from Assistant Professor to Tenured Professor of Microbiology, he also held key administrative roles including Director of the Institute of Microbiology, Principal Officer of Medical and Health Services, and Chairman of the Department of Microbiology. In every role, he combined visionary leadership with humility and compassion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Anjum was also an outstanding researcher. He authored hundreds of peer reviewed research publications with a cumulative impact factor of nearly 300, advancing knowledge in virology, bacteriology, mycology, and antimicrobial resistance. His contributions to vaccine development, zoonotic disease control, and probiotics research benefited both the scientific community and the livestock sector of Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond academia, Dr Anjum extended his expertise to public service. He served as a consultant on poverty alleviation initiatives in Cholistan, promoted livestock welfare, and contributed to community awareness programs through platforms like Radio Bahawalpur. His service reached grassroots communities to improve lives and livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Generations of students were inspired by his depth of knowledge, dedication to learning, and sincere personal guidance. Dr Anjum was admired for an open door policy, warm smile, and character grounded in integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
