The event has shed light on the significant contributions of camels in providing life sustenance to the local communities and its crucial value to the ecosystem.
FAO Pays Tribute to Camels, the ‘Ships of the Desert,’ in Pakistan’s Tharparkar
Camels are known as the “ships of the desert.” They are specifically adapted to survive in harsh conditions. The milk, meat, and transportation provided by camels are vital for the livelihood of many families in Tharparkar.
The event was organized in collaboration with Sindh Agriculture University and the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council. A variety of activities, including expert discussions, a camel show, and an awards ceremony to recognize outstanding camel rearers, were part of the event.
