The 2024 European Harvest Analysis by Alltech reveals that mycotoxin risks in crops have reached moderate to high levels across Europe this year. Unpredictable weather conditions, including heavy rains followed by periods of drought, have fueled mould growth, leading to significant mycotoxin contamination that varies by region and crop. Aflatoxin B1 levels are notably high in corn samples from Hungary, Serbia, Romania, and Bulgaria, with contamination levels reaching up to 506 parts per billion (ppb).
