Pakistan’s First Crocodile Farm Opens in Sindh

Pakistan Launches Its First Crocodile Farm to Boost Leather Industry and Tourism

In a groundbreaking move, crocodile farming has officially commenced in Pakistan, marking a significant step towards strengthening the leather industry and promoting tourism.

The unique venture has been initiated in Jacobabad, one of Sindh’s hottest regions, where a local landowner has established a crocodile farm at Bhambhore Farmhouse, located in a nearby village.

The farm replicates the reptiles’ natural swampy habitat, providing them with a suitable environment to thrive. Currently, ten crocodiles have been imported, with plans for rapid population growth once they begin laying eggs.

According to the farm owner, crocodiles take nearly five years to mature, reaching up to 21 feet in length and weighing close to a ton. Their skins are highly valued in the global market for crafting luxury leather goods.

“We are raising them professionally to meet international standards, ensuring that Pakistan enters the high-end leather industry,” the farm owner stated.

If successful, this pioneering initiative could play a vital role in Pakistan’s economic growth, offering new opportunities for trade and eco-tourism.
