Launch of newly Developed Homologous Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) Vaccine at Veterinary Research Institute, Lahore

Lahore 14 Jun 2024, Today the inauguration of the newly developed Homologous Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) vaccine was held at the Veterinary Research Institute (VRI), Lahore. The event was attended by Livestock and Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani and Secretary Livestock Muhammad Masood Anwar who officially inaugurated the new vaccine.

Director General Extension Dr. Asif Sahi also participated in the event. During the event, Dr. Sajjad Hussain, Director General Research (DGR) provided a detailed briefing on the newly developed vaccine, emphasizing its effectiveness and important role in ensuring animal health and well-being. He also informed the Honorable Minister about the accreditation of Quality Control Lab for the period 2024-2027 by Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC).

Secretary Livestock Muhammad Masood Anwar appreciated the efforts of the VRI team to develop a vaccine against skin disease. Minister for Livestock and Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani thanked the VRI team by presenting them with appreciation shields in recognition of their outstanding dedication and contribution.

After the ceremony, the Minister visited the Cold Chain and Supply Section and planted a tree at the VRI premises, marking the occasion with a symbolic gesture towards environmental protection.
