VNV News Desk: The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA), will host the fourth session of its 2026 The Nutrition Dialogues webinar series on Thursday, 5 November. The one-hour virtual programme will focus on the science of dietary protein, muscle health and physical performance, alongside the meaning of protein-quality terminology in research, food policy and consumer communication.

The organiser has announced 4:00–5:00 pm UAE time, corresponding to 5:00–6:00 pm in Pakistan. The event flyer also advertises 1.0 Continuing Professional Education Unit (CPEU) under the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s CPEU Prior Approval Program. Participants should confirm credit eligibility and attendance requirements with the organiser.

Scientific Programme: Two Featured Presentations

1. Moving Around Your Protein for Muscle Health and Performance

Speaker: Daniel Moore, PhD | Professor, Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, University of Toronto

This presentation will consider the relationship between exercise and protein nutrition, including how the two influence muscle protein synthesis, recovery and physical performance. Drawing on his research specialism, Professor Moore will help connect the underlying physiology with practical questions about the role of dietary protein in active populations.

2. Understanding Protein Terminology: Bridging Research, Policy, and Consumer Perspectives

Speaker: Michelle Braun, PhD | Director of Nutrition Research, Soy Nutrition Institute Global

Dr. Braun’s presentation will address the language used to describe protein and protein quality, and why consistent interpretation matters in scientific research, regulatory and policy discussions, food development and consumer information. It will offer context for communicating nutrition evidence without confusing technical definitions with marketing claims.

Programme note: The flyer identifies the two presentations but does not provide separate start times, a moderator, a question-and-answer schedule or any other detailed running order.

Meet the Speakers

Daniel Moore, PhD

Professor of Muscle Physiology, University of Toronto, Canada

Dr. Daniel Moore is a professor in the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education. He earned his kinesiology doctorate at McMaster University. His research addresses muscle protein metabolism, skeletal-muscle remodelling, sports nutrition, training adaptation, and the effects of exercise and inactivity on musculoskeletal health.

His work investigates how dietary protein and physical activity interact across the lifespan, with particular attention to recovery, growth, active youth and clinical populations. Among his research honours is an American Society for Nutrition Young Investigator Award.

Who Should Attend and Why It Matters

The subjects are particularly relevant to dietitians, nutrition researchers, food scientists, public-health professionals, university faculty, students, policymakers and professionals working in plant-based protein and food product development. The discussion may help attendees distinguish protein intake from protein quality, understand the connection between protein and physical activity, and communicate scientific findings responsibly.

  • Nutrition research: Translating evidence on muscle protein metabolism and exercise into clearer professional discussions.
  • Food policy and labelling: Understanding how protein terminology may affect standards, claims and consumer interpretation.
  • Protein food systems: Considering how plant and animal protein sources are discussed in the context of human nutrition.
  • Professional education: A one-hour learning opportunity advertising 1.0 CPEU, subject to the organiser’s applicable requirements.
