Pakistan and Korea Strengthen Agricultural Ties for Sustainable Growth
Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, held a meeting with a high-level delegation from Korea to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector. The discussions focused on agricultural technology, livestock breeding, and sustainable farming practices, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to deepen their partnership.
During the meeting, the progress of ongoing projects under the Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) was reviewed. These initiatives aim to boost Pakistan’s agricultural productivity through modern farming techniques such as aeroponic seed production and improved fodder technology. Additionally, both sides discussed launching new projects, including a livestock breeding program to enhance milk and meat production in Pakistan.
Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized Pakistan’s interest in learning from Korea’s advanced agricultural technologies to improve its farming methods, ensuring higher productivity and sustainability. He reiterated that agriculture remains a key contributor to Pakistan’s GDP, and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has placed special focus on the sector’s development to ensure food security and economic stability.
The Korean delegation invited Pakistan to participate in the AFACI General Assembly meeting, scheduled for May 2025, which will serve as a platform for further collaboration and knowledge exchange in agriculture.
Minister Hussain assured that the Ministry of National Food Security & Research is fully committed to strengthening Pakistan’s agricultural sector. He highlighted the importance of international partnerships in achieving long-term agricultural growth and food security, reinforcing the government’s dedication to modernizing the sector through innovation and global cooperation.
This meeting marks another step toward enhancing Pakistan-Korea agricultural relations, promising mutual benefits for both countries in the field of sustainable farming and advanced agricultural practices.
