Pakistan Seeks Canadian Market Access for Poultry Exports

Islamabad | December 10, 2025 — Pakistan is seeking greater access to the Canadian market for its poultry and livestock products as part of efforts to expand agri-food exports. Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain met Canadian High Commissioner H.E. Tarik Ali Khan to discuss easing regulatory and trade barriers affecting processed poultry products, halal meat, and gelatin.

The Minister emphasized Pakistan’s growing export potential and called for streamlined certification procedures and science-based trade mechanisms to support halal exports. He also sought Canadian technical assistance to modernize animal health information systems and strengthen Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) control programs, key requirements for compliance with international sanitary standards.

FMD
