Pakistan’s Sesame Seed Exports to China Surge by 180% in Early 2025

According to Ghulam Qadir, Trade and Investment Counsellor at Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing, Pakistan exported 22,740 metric tonnes of sesame seeds valued at $28.27 million in January and February 2025. This is a substantial rise compared to the 5,998 metric tonnes worth $10.10 million exported during the same period last year.

Pakistan has witnessed a remarkable 179.88% increase in sesame seed exports to China during the first two months of 2025, marking a significant expansion in agricultural trade relations between the two countries.

Pakistan’s growing presence in China’s sesame market is attributed to improved product quality, streamlined trade mechanisms, and increasing demand in China’s food industry.

“Pakistan remains one of the leading suppliers of sesame seeds to China, capitalizing on favorable climatic conditions, advanced agricultural practices, and trade facilitation measures,” stated Qadir.

This surge underscores the potential for further growth in Pakistan’s agricultural exports, reinforcing its position as a key player in China’s high-quality food supply chain.
