Pakistan Enhances AMR Monitoring with FAO AMR ACT Project

Pakistan is set to strengthen its fight against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) with the implementation of the FAO AMR ACT Project.

Through hands-on training on the International FAO Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring (InFARM) system, Pakistan will gain access to a state-of-the-art IT platform. This initiative empowers the country to effectively collect, analyze, and utilize AMR data from livestock, fisheries, and aquaculture sectors.

By harnessing the power of data, Pakistan aims to make significant strides in combating AMR and safeguarding public health. The project aligns with the One Health approach, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.

Key benefits of the FAO AMR ACT Project include:

  • Enhanced AMR surveillance and monitoring
  • Improved data management and analysis capabilities
  • Strengthened national AMR control programs
  • Protection of public health and food safety

This collaboration between Pakistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) marks a crucial step towards a sustainable and AMR-free future.
