Faisalabad: Pakistan’s leading textile company Interloop Holdings has now entered the dairy industry and announced a joint venture with Turkish company Rella Gida to produce high-quality mozzarella cheese and export it to Gulf countries especially Saudi Arabia.

According to the company’s chairman, Mosaddiq Zulqarnain, Interloop Holdings is now committed to expanding Pakistan’s non-textile exports by expanding its product range beyond textiles.

Interloop’s subsidiary IRC Dairy Products Ltd. is processing 1,20,000 liters of milk daily into Turkish-style mozzarella cheese and butter in collaboration with Turkey’s Rella Gida. The products are currently being sold in Pakistan, Eurasia and the Far East. Chairman Mosaddiq Zulqarnain told Arab News that he will travel to Turkey this month to further discuss export opportunities to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

He said that in 2024, the GCC countries imported cheese and butter worth $2.3 billion, of which Saudi Arabia’s share was $980 million. “We will produce about 7 to 8 percent of the cheese that the entire Gulf region imports.” — Mosaddiq Zulqarnain, Chairman of Interloop Holdings IRC Dairy’s current annual sales are Rs10 billion ($36 million), which is expected to reach Rs40 billion ($142 million) after the expansion project is completed.

The company plans to triple its production in the next three years. Zulqarnain said the company is also considering setting up a dairy plant in Saudi Arabia under a joint venture in the future. According to him, the demand for cheese and butter in the Gulf region is growing rapidly, which could open up new export opportunities for Pakistan.
