Punjab Approves Rs. 70,000 Monthly Stipend for Agriculture Interns

Under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a high-level meeting was convened to review and approve a series of major initiatives aimed at transforming the province’s agricultural sector.

During the meeting, a comprehensive agricultural reform mission was presented, focusing on farmer empowerment and laying the groundwork for a modern, technology-driven agricultural economy.

Key Announcements and Approvals

The Chief Minister outlined several strategic measures, including:

  • Promotion of barren land cultivation
  • Expansion of hydroponic farming
  • Strengthening agricultural exports
  • Continued support for tractor schemes, super seeds, solarization, and the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” program

Rs. 70,000 Stipend for Agriculture Interns

A significant decision was made to actively engage youth in the agriculture sector. Agriculture Interns will now be included under the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” initiative, with a monthly stipend fixed at PKR 70,000.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this initiative will enable talented young graduates to play a leading role in Punjab’s agricultural transformation.

Mechanization and Solarization Targets

The meeting also approved:

  • Solarization of 10,000 diesel-powered tube wells across the province
  • Distribution target of 28,000 super seeds by 2028
  • Provision of 6,500 modern agricultural machines under the High-Tech Mechanization Program by 2028

Pothohar Development and Tractor Subsidy Expansion

Under the Pothohar Development Program, progress was reported on the completion of 400 mini dams.

Additionally, the fourth phase of the CM Green Tractor Program was approved. The subsidy for high-horsepower tractors has been set at PKR 1.5 million. For low-horsepower tractors, the subsidy has been increased from PKR 500,000 to PKR 700,000.
