ISLAMABAD (August 10, 2024) — The Task Force on Higher Education Reforms, established on May 31, 2024, has successfully submitted its report to the concerned authorities, marking a significant step forward in enhancing Pakistan’s higher education sector.
The task force, constituted by the Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), comprised distinguished members from various esteemed institutions. The team was led by Prof. Dr. Anwar-ul-Hassan Gilani, Consultant (Policy, Research & Innovation) at HEC Islamabad, and included the following members:
- Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri, Principal, National College of Arts, Lahore
- Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Moazzam Ejaz, Rector, National University of Technology, Islamabad
- Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Wasim Alamgir, Rector, National University of Medical Sciences, Islamabad
- Prof. Dr. Osman Hasan, Pro-Rector (Academics), National University of Sciences & Technology, Islamabad
- Senior Joint Secretary (HEC), Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training
- Engr. Muhammad Raza Chohan, Advisor (Academics & Curriculum), HEC, Islamabad
- Director (Accreditation), A&A Division, HEC, Islamabad
The task force headed by Prof. Dr. Anwar Ul Hasan Gilani was tasked with identifying and addressing the major challenges facing Pakistan’s higher education sector. The report, compiled after four weeks of rigorous analysis, is expected to outline comprehensive solutions to these challenges.
The submission of this report is an important step towards transforming Pakistan’s higher education environment. The country looks forward to implementing the recommendations of the task force, which is expected to bring about significant and positive changes in the sector.
