
GUANGZHOU, Sept. 24 (Gwadar Pro) – The Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI) has unveiled 500 training scholarships for Pakistani professionals in genomics and biotechnology, expanding the scope of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into health, food security, and advanced sciences.

He described the program as a significant milestone for Pakistan’s progress.
“CPEC 2.0, with its emphasis on genomics and biotechnology, will shape the future of health, food security, and innovation for our people,” Iqbal said. “From building infrastructure to decoding life itself, Pakistan and China are embarking on a new chapter of scientific collaboration.”
The minister highlighted genomics as a key driver for the future of healthcare, agriculture, and national prosperity, while expressing gratitude to China for supporting Pakistani experts through these training opportunities.
Iqbal is currently on an official visit to China, where he is co-chairing the 14th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) on CPEC and attending a series of meetings in Guangzhou, Zhuzhou, and Changsha to deepen cooperation in science, technology, and socioeconomic development.
