Govt Introduces Rs. 70,000 Support Program for IT Students

Through the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, you can get up to Rs. 70,000 reimbursed for the cost of internationally recognized IT certifications.

This program is part of the broader Prime Minister’s IT skills development drive (including initiatives like SkillTech Pakistan) to build a stronger, more competitive tech workforce in Pakistan. It helps boost skills in high-demand areas, improves job prospects, strengthens resumes, and supports the growth of Pakistan’s IT exports.

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to Pakistani nationals in the tech field, including:

  • Final-year students (7th/8th semester) in 4-year BS IT, ICT, or related degrees.
  • Recent graduates from HEC-recognized institutions (typically graduated 2013 or later in some references).
  • Freelancers, job seekers, and working professionals looking to upskill.

Key Requirements:

  • Valid CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card).
  • Proof of education: degree, transcript, or student ID from an HEC-recognized institution.
  • Must be a permanent resident of Pakistan.

How Does It Work?

  1. Choose and complete an approved certification from the PSEB list (check the official portal for the full updated list).
  2. Pay the exam/certification fee upfront yourself.
  3. Successfully pass and obtain the certification.
  4. Apply for reimbursement through the official process get up to Rs. 70,000 back (depending on the actual cost).

Note: You pay first, then claim reimbursement after success. For expensive certifications (e.g., over Rs. 70,000), you cover the extra amount.
