The Department of Livestock Management, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), and the Institute of Reproductive Biotechnology and Genetics (IRBG), Dunyapur, have signed a five year Collaboration Agreement. This partnership aims to advance goat genetic improvement, research commercialization, technology transfer, and international linkages in Punjab. Formulated under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, Director ORIC at IUB, the agreement emphasizes global collaboration, particularly with China, in livestock genetics and reproductive biotechnology.

The initiative also provides hands on training in artificial insemination, embryo transfer, reproductive management, and breed improvement.
IUB Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran and Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mansoor commended Dr. Faisal Shahzad, Chairman of the Department of Livestock Management, for translating key research projects, including PARB Project No. 22 125 and NRPU Project No. 64, into viable field innovations. They highlighted the successful conversion of NRPU Project No. 17105 into the Livestock Business Education and Training Unit (LBETU), an active income generating and commercialization hub at the university.
University leadership also praised Dr. Qaisar Shahzad, CEO of IRBG, for his major contributions to livestock biotechnology, including large scale livestock genetics exports to China. His decision to partner with IUB demonstrates confidence in the university research infrastructure and its capacity to deliver commercially viable outcomes.
The event welcomed key industry stakeholders, including Mian Samiullah, General Secretary of the Buffalo Breeders Association Punjab, and Rana Baber, CEO of Cattle Plus Ranch. To commemorate growing university industry ties, they presented a Gold Buffalo memento to the Vice Chancellor. Leading Makkhi Cheeni goat breeders were recognized with certificates, and the IUB Makkhi Cheeni Goat Breeders Association was established under the leadership of newly nominated President Mr. Abdul Jabbar Sangera.
The program concluded with a Technology Demonstration and Training Workshop under PARB Project No. 22 125 at the university livestock farm. Practical showcases featured a modern slatted floor goat housing system, an innovative feeding manger, and four functional prototypes.
