Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Two Days “4th National Training Course on Diagnosis of Poultry Diseases through Modern Diagnostic Techniques” was jointly organized by Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) Pakistan Branch on from 03-04 December 2025 at CAS Auditorium, UAF and Diagnostic Laboratory Department of Pathology.
On Frist Days, 03 December 2025 Vice Chancellor UAF Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali was Chief Guest in inaugural session. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kashif Saleemi highlighted the importance and objectives of training course. He told WVPA is organizing regularly this training course since 2013.
He told correct and reliable diagnosis of poultry diseases is of prime importance, therefore there is strong need to equip the field poultry vets with modern diagnostic techniques. Dr. Khalid Naeem Khawaja highlighted the role of WVPA for education and training of poultry professionals. He represented Dr. Hanif Nazir Ch. As he was injured in a road accident. Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali appreciated the efforts of organizing committee from Department of Pathology lead by Dr.
Muhammad Kashif Saleemi, he also appreciated WVPA Pakistan and sponsor of the event Lucky Core Industries (LCI) Pakistan. Vice Chancellor stressed on importance of academia industry linkage in the form of resources and knowledge sharing. In the end he presented awards to DG L &DD and Sponsor.

Dr. Khalid Naeem Khawaja explained history of Avian Influenza control in Pakistan and appreciated the role of NARC, VRI, PRI and private sector. He told with joint efforts Pakistan is H5N1 free since 2008 as notified by WOAH. He said we should proud on our scientists. Dr. Ahad Fayyaz told IBV is mutating continuously and there is need for proper monitoring and vaccine efficacy studies.

Dr. Farhan Afzal told about Newcastle Disease control and current status and ND is under control but need continuous surveillance. Prof. Ehtisham Ul Haque explained current situation of mycoplasma in Pakistan and told bacterial vaccines against MG and MS is good option to reduce antibiotic use. He told that farmers should be supplied with mycoplasma free chicks and he also told MS is causing respiratory problem equal to MG. Prof. Muhammad Kashif Saleemi delivered practical and field oriented lecture on vaccine administration and handling.
He told our vaccine application is not proper and farm biosecurity should be properly adopted and vaccine schedule should not be changed without any reason. He emphasized the role of laboratory for serological monitoring of bird especially long living bird. He told Diagnostic Laboratory Department of Pathology is approving all type of Diagnostic service including Real time PCR.
Dr. Kashif Saleemi also presented the report of activities of WVPA Pakistan. He shared a good news that WVPA Pakistan branch has won the BID in WVPA Asia Conference in Manila in 2024 to host WVPA Asia Meeting/Conference 2028 in Lahore Pakistan. At the end of each lecture Q & A was managed by the moderator of the session Dr. Aisha Khatoon, Assistant Professor Department of Pathology, member WVPA Pakistan. After lunch firs training session was organized in Faculty meeting room of FVS. In this session 30 registered poultry vets and postgraduate students of Pathology participated. Two presentation were made first on HA-HI test by Dr. Aisha Khatoon and second on use of ELISA by Dr. Sadaf Faiz. Resource person were Dr. Aisha Khatoon, Dr. Muhammad Imran, Dr. Muhammad Nasir and Dr. Sadaf Faiz.
On second day 04 December participants reported in Diagnostic Lab and were divided into two groups for HA-HI test and ELISA after 2 hours groups were interchanged. All the participants performed these tests with their hands and discussed with resource persons. Dr. Zahdia Fatima Resource persons from NARC and Dr. Hamid Irshad, Team Lead NRLPD and Dr. Muhammad Kashif Saleemi from Department of Pathology monitored the training session and supervised the resource persons and addressed the questions
of the participates. From 1-2 PM report interpretation session was held in meeting room of FVS that panel included Prof. Dr. M. Kashif Saleemi, Dr. Hamid Irshad, Dr. Zahida Fatima, Dr. Aisha Khatoon, Dr. Muhammad Imran. Detailed session was held for one hour and trainees frequently asked the questions.

The concluding session was chaired by Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof. Dr. M. Shahid Mahmood and Malik Muhammad Sharif, Vice Chairman PPA was Chief Guest, Dr. Rana Sajjad Arshad Ex Chairman PPA and Dr. Zahida Fatima were on head table. Chief gust appreciated the organizing committee for selecting this important area of training course for capacity building of field poultry vets. He assured his cooperation for organizing such activities by WVPA.
He appreciated Prof. Dr. Muhammd Kashif Saleemi and Dr. Hanif Nazir Ch for their leading role. At the end Chief guest distributed certificates among participants of training course and shields among members of organizing committee. Dr. M. Shahid Mahmood, Dean FVS, Dr. M. Kashif Saleemi, Chairman Department of Pathology and Dr. Rana Sajjad Arshad presented University Souvenir to Chief Guest.
