The distribution ceremony was held in Rawalpindi, where officials highlighted the government’s commitment to improving agricultural productivity, irrigation efficiency, and farmer support systems across Punjab.

Subsidized Laser Land Levelers for Rawalpindi Farmers

The laser land levelers were distributed through a transparent balloting process. According to officials, a total of 23 farmers from Rawalpindi district received the equipment on subsidy.

Over the next three years, approximately 270 laser land levelers will be provided to farmers in Rawalpindi Division, each on a subsidy of Rs. 700,000, significantly reducing the financial burden on growers.

Laser land leveling technology ensures precise field leveling, which improves irrigation efficiency, reduces water wastage, enhances crop uniformity, and increases overall agricultural yield.

Government’s Commitment to Agricultural Development

Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Raja Shaukat Bhatti attended the ceremony as chief guest. He stated that the Punjab Chief Minister’s Agricultural Transformation Plan is a major initiative aimed at strengthening agriculture in the Potohar region.

He emphasized that substantial funds have been allocated for:

  • Construction and rehabilitation of water resources
  • Modern irrigation systems
  • Promotion of high-value crops
  • Improved agricultural technologies

According to officials, transparency has been ensured in all government programs and schemes under the transformation plan.

Solar-Powered Irrigation and Lift Systems

Under the broader project, the Irrigation Reforms Department of Punjab Agriculture will also install a modern irrigation system connected to solar energy across 1,700 acres within three years.

Additionally, 1,700 lift irrigation systems will be connected to solar power with a 70% subsidy, helping farmers reduce operational costs and dependency on conventional energy sources.

This initiative aims to strengthen climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable water use in the region.

Rs. 7 Billion Allocated for Potohar Region

Ms. Farhana Jamil, Director of Agriculture (Water Management), Rawalpindi Division, highlighted that the Chief Minister of Punjab has allocated Rs. 7 billion for the Potohar region under the water management wing of the Punjab Agriculture Department.

Focus on Water Conservation and Efficient Farming

Punjab Water Management Deputy Director Raja Hassan Raza Khan congratulated the beneficiary farmers and encouraged them to allow other growers to utilize the laser land levelers to maximize water savings across the region.

Laser land leveling significantly improves irrigation efficiency by ensuring even water distribution, reducing water runoff, and minimizing input waste a crucial step in addressing water scarcity challenges in Punjab.

Why Laser Land Leveling Matters for Punjab Agriculture

Laser land leveling technology is widely recognized for:

  • Increasing crop yield by 10–20%
  • Reducing water usage by up to 30%
  • Lowering labor and fuel costs
  • Improving fertilizer efficiency
  • Enhancing soil health

For water-stressed regions like Potohar, this technology can play a vital role in sustainable agricultural transformation.
