Pakistan Poultry Association’s New Leadership for 2026-2028 Takes Oath at 47th AGM
Chaudhry Mohammad Ashraf assumes office as Chairman as the Pakistan Poultry Association formally announces its newly elected office bearers and Executive Committee following the completion of its 2026-2028 election process.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) formally completed the transition to its new leadership for the 2026-2028 term during its 47th Annual General Meeting, held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Islamabad Hotel, Islamabad.
The meeting marked the culmination of an election process that began in July and included voter-list procedures, nominations, scrutiny, Executive Committee elections and the subsequent election of the Association’s office bearers.
At the AGM, the Election Commission formally announced the elected office bearers and Executive Committee members for the next two-year term. The newly elected leadership was subsequently administered the oath in the presence of PPA members and AGM participants.

The election programme had originally provided that the final results would be formally announced at the Annual General Meeting within the prescribed period following polling. The process was conducted under the Association’s election framework and relevant provisions governing trade organisations.

New PPA Office Bearers for 2026-2028
Chaudhry Mohammad Ashraf
Chaudhry Mohammad Ashraf has been elected Chairman of the Pakistan Poultry Association for the 2026-2028 term. As Chairman, he will lead the Association at the national level, guide its policy direction, coordinate with government institutions and industry stakeholders, and oversee PPA’s representation on major issues affecting Pakistan’s poultry sector.
Speaking at the AGM, he presented an action plan for the next two years and assured members that he would devote substantial time to Association affairs. He highlighted the need for stronger cooperation among stakeholders in addressing industry challenges and placed particular emphasis on consumer education.
He called for a structured public-awareness campaign to provide accurate information about poultry products, their nutritional value and the wider contribution of the poultry industry.
Aamir Ali Khan
Aamir Ali Khan has been elected Senior Vice Chairman for the 2026-2028 term. The Senior Vice Chairman supports the Chairman in the Association’s national-level affairs and plays a key role in coordination among PPA leadership, Executive Committee members and regional stakeholders.
The office also carries an important responsibility in maintaining continuity in Association affairs and supporting policy engagement, industry representation and organisational coordination.
Dr. Arshad Hanif Chaudhry
Dr. Arshad Hanif Chaudhry has been elected Vice Chairman for the North Region. His role includes representing members from the North Region, coordinating regional industry matters with the PPA Central leadership and helping bring operational, commercial and policy concerns of regional stakeholders to the Association’s national platform.
The position is also expected to support PPA activities, member engagement and coordination on issues affecting poultry businesses operating across the northern region.
Javed Aslam
Javed Aslam has been elected Vice Chairman for the South Region. He will represent regional members and support coordination between the South Region and PPA Central on policy, commercial and sector-wide matters.
Issues affecting poultry production, trade, market conditions and regional business concerns are expected to remain important areas of engagement for the South Region leadership during the new term.

Collectively, the Executive Committee is responsible for participating in the Association’s policy and administrative decision-making, representing the interests of members, supporting industry advocacy, reviewing organisational matters and working with the office bearers on issues affecting the poultry sector.
Individual portfolios should, however, only be attributed to Executive Committee members where those responsibilities have been formally assigned by PPA.
47th AGM Proceedings
The Annual General Meeting was held under the chairmanship of outgoing PPA Chairman Abdul Basit. PPA Central members, officials and Executive Committee members attended the proceedings, while a number of members also participated online.
PPA Secretary General Gul Aziz Awan presented the agenda before the assembly in accordance with the meeting notice.
Proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. Kamal Akhtar Siddiq delivered a condolence address in memory of PPA members who had passed away, after which prayers were offered for the deceased.
Minutes of the Association’s 46th Annual General Meeting of 2025 were then placed before members and were unanimously approved.
Election Results Formally Announced and Oath Administered
Khaleeq Arshad, Convener of the PPA Election Commission, formally announced the results for the newly elected office bearers and Executive Committee members for the 2026-2028 term.
Following the announcement, he administered the oath to the elected office bearers and Executive Committee members in the presence of AGM participants, formally marking the transition to the new leadership.
Annual Report and Audited Accounts Approved
The annual report of the Pakistan Poultry Association was presented to the assembly and approved.
Secretary General Gul Aziz Awan also presented the audited accounts for financial year 2025-26, which were unanimously approved by the members. The AGM further approved the appointment of Muneeb Ziauddin as auditor.
Outgoing Leadership Reviews Two-Year Term
Outgoing Chairman Abdul Basit reviewed the Association’s performance during the previous two years, including challenges faced by the poultry industry and the steps taken by PPA during his tenure.
He congratulated the newly elected Chairman, office bearers and Executive Committee members and extended his best wishes to the incoming leadership as it prepares to address the industry’s next set of challenges.
Regional Issues and Industry Performance Discussed
Senior PPA members also addressed the AGM on regional and sector-wide issues.
Lal Bakhsh Kalachi highlighted challenges faced by the South Region and discussed matters affecting the poultry sector, including concerns related to the import of eggs.
Malik Muhammad Sharif welcomed the newly elected leadership and reviewed the North Region’s performance and achievements during the previous two years.
He also referred to the organisation of the previous IPEX exhibitions and said preparations were under way for the next International Poultry Expo.
Permanent Secretariat Proposed for IPEX
Ghulam Khaleeq, who addressed the meeting in his capacity as Senior Vice Chairman, presented an overview of PPA’s activities and performance during the previous two years.
He proposed the establishment of a separate permanent secretariat and administrative structure for the International Poultry Expo (IPEX), arguing that the exhibition has become a major recurring industry activity requiring dedicated, full-time management.
The proposal underlined the growing institutional importance of IPEX as a major platform for Pakistan’s poultry sector.

Tax and Policy Issues Remain on PPA Agenda
During the concluding part of the meeting, Dr. F.M. Sabir briefed members on important tax and policy matters affecting the poultry industry.
He discussed progress relating to the 4% tax issue and also updated the assembly on matters concerning regulatory duty on Grand Parents and PPA’s efforts on the issue.
