The WPSA Working Group on Small-Scale Family Poultry Farming (SSFPF), in collaboration with the Department of Poultry Production, UVAS Lahore, will organize a training workshop on ‘Essentials of Small-Scale Poultry Production”. WPSA Pakistan is making a great contribution to knowledge dissemination across all sectors of society, focusing on reducing vulnerability and supporting poverty alleviation.

Pakistan has a diverse and large population of domestic and rural poultry, which plays a vital role in poverty alleviation by providing households with a steady source of food, income, and nutritional security. Small Scale Family Poultry contributes significantly to livelihood improvement, women’s empowerment, and resilience in vulnerable communities, as it requires low investment, offers quick returns, and serves as a reliable safety net against economic shocks.

Small-scale poultry production plays a key role in food security, nutrition, and income generation for rural households. It provides affordable animal protein in the form of eggs and meat, while also supporting women’s empowerment and poverty reduction. With proper knowledge of breeds, housing, feeding, health care, and marketing, smallholder poultry can be transformed into a sustainable and profitable enterprise.
